Here we want to systematically investigate the impact of protein and lipid composition, curvature and lateral membrane tension on domain formation in multicomponent membranes derived from hippocampal neurons and from synaptosomes. We will map the position and aggregation state of certain proteins and lipids found in the presynaptic membrane with a non-invasive and label-free rapid rupture event imaging, force distance-based atomic force microscopy (AFM).
