The assembly of the postsynaptic transmission machinery at inhibitory neuronal synapses requires the tight interplay between cell adhesion proteins, scaffold and adaptor proteins, as well as receptors for γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) or glycine. During the last funding period, we successfully developed an in vitro membrane system that allows us to analyze part of this protein machinery.

We will continue to pursue this objective, focusing on the interaction between the cytosolic domain of Neuroligin-2 and the proteins Gephyrin and Collybistin 2.
