During the second funding period we studied the molecular organization of several molecular assemblies in the synapse, including the extracellular matrix that stabilizes and connects the pre- and postsynaptic compartments. For the next funding period, we plan to employ ONE microscopy to analyse several key aspects of synaptic organization: the organization of major exo- and endocytosis proteins, the organization of protein scaffolds and receptors in the postsynaptic density, and the distribution of adhesion molecules.
